In honor of today’s global celebration of World Toilet Day, Sanergy held a grand opening for our newest Fresh Life Toilet – gathering hundreds of people to celebrate the importance of hygienic sanitation.

Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia cuts the ribbon to open the newest Fresh Life Toilet, with its owner, Caroline Mueni Mutua, joyfully looking on.
We were thrilled to have Philip Kisia, the Town Clerk of Nairobi – the CEO of the City, offer a keynote speech, cut the ribbon on this addition to the Fresh Life toilet network, and generally join in the celebrations. The Honorable Town Clerk’s support of Sanergy’s work reflects the important steps that the City Council of Nairobi is taking to ensure that its citizens receive hygienic sanitation.
This Fresh Life toilet is owned and operated by Caroline Mueni Mutua from the informal settlement Mukuru Kwa Njenga. Caroline has been a successful small business owner in Kwa Njenga for several years. As soon as she heard about the Fresh Life toilet through her bank, Faulu Kenya, she jumped at the chance to apply. Caroline successfully completed the Fresh Life training and is now excited to operate the toilet as an additional business.

To celebrate the newest Fresh Life toilet on World Toilet Day, children got their faces painted with sings of fresh life.

do you think this company will ever go public?
Greg
goo ques Greg, I would also love to know the answer – I will be among the first to invest if this company does go public.
YAY!!!! Such joy and celebration … just to have a clean and sanitary toilet! What we Americans take for granted!
Look at those cute kids celebrating!! You guys are so inspirational. Keep it going Team Sanergy!
The involvement of the town clerk in the grand opening is such a fresh idea! It detaches the whole idea from politicians who are only interested in the political milleage they would gain.
Great initiative people.Congrats
Congratulations, Sanergy team & Caroline Mueni Mutua! I am so excited for you! PS – I love the face painting:)
Anyone has an idea who makes this portable toilets? Is this a UN or NGO sponsored project? Or private sector initiative? Idea has been around but to make it portable and collect bio mass is great !!! How do they make this viable from concept to connecting to the grid?
Great initiative! Love it that human waste is being recycled into energy and fertilizer! These are steps in the right direction …
